Interested in taking the CEcD Exam?
You are invited to participate in a CEcD Review Course scheduled for February 19-20, 2010 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The CEcD Review Course has provided good results for those who seriously apply themselves. It will increase your chances to pass the CEcD Exam with fewer or no “retakes.” Commonly known as the “Koepke CEcD Study Course,” it is usually conducted at the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute, but we have made special arrangements to host it in Arkansas.
The Review Course registration deadline is December 11, 2009.
The course is best suited to those who expect to take the CEcD Exam within 12 months of the workshop part of the program. The general requirements to sit for the exam are 1) at least 4 years experience in economic development and 2) completion of all three years of EDI or completion of the IEDC professional development courses. (For more details, see http://www.iedconline.org/?p=Certification_Process.)
Briefly, here's what your participation entails: 1. A series of pre-workshop lessons sent by e-mail between the Review Course instructors and you. This part of the program requires about 60 days so that means a start time around early-to mid-December. (Don't let the holidays deter you, you can work around them!) 2. A 2-day workshop to be held on February 19-20 (Friday and Saturday) at the Institute for Economic Advancement on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. 3. A series of post-workshop lessons sent by e-mail between the Review Course instructors and you.
The course registration fee is $300. For a comparison, this same course ordinarily is offered through the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute for $500 so this is a good price. Also, participants in this course have a higher pass rate than those who don't take it so you can save on the back end by reducing the number of possible retakes! There is an additional fee for purchasing IEDC’s “Introduction to Economic development” manual, which serves as the primary text for the course and can be ordered directly from IEDC.
